Susan Wiegand
06:15
Uploading slides etc was in the Speakers; Notes...
Susan Wiegand
06:55
https://conference.acrl.org/acrl-2021-speaker-instructions/ (number 4)
Kimberly Grotewold
07:10
So that also goes for Live sessions?--It wasn't 100% clear if that was just for pre-recorded and semi-live sessions...
Beth Filar Williams (she/they)
07:27
note that #1 and 2 are in those instructions are not for us.
Susan Wiegand
07:45
I saw "handouts" so already did it.
Margot Conahan
08:11
If you have handouts to accompany your session, you can upload materials via the link in #4 of the speaker instructions. Thanks for sharing the URL, Susan!
Kimberly Grotewold
08:28
Thanks all.
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
08:49
So we can’t just share our screen for a slide or 2 for roundtables?
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
09:10
*I mean, we would need to submit this ahead of time?
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
09:43
Live chat more social component
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
10:05
(oops typed in wrong area)
Susan Wiegand
10:18
I think you can also share screen, at least we're planning to.
Erin O'Toole
10:44
Can we save the Q&A file after the presentation?
Dave Tyckoson
11:07
My sound cut out, but the screen is still being shared. I checked my audio and it looks good on this end. Is aneone else having that problem?
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
13:26
Can more than 1 person be a speaker at the same time?
Erin O'Toole
13:40
yes
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
13:47
(for example, if 1 person is sharing a screen and the other is talking)
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
14:10
Will an ACRL person introduce our roundtable sessions or do we run it ourselves?
Africa Hands (she/her)
15:29
Same question as Deborah.
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
16:01
If you upload a handout ahead of time, does it show somewhere on the screen with participants?
Paul Fehrmann
16:48
Is there a recommended browser ?
Africa Hands (she/her)
17:32
What filetypes are best for screen sharing? That is, should we share directly from PPT or as a PDF?
Sarah Michael
18:14
I always say PDF is the best for a true presentation, but you can display anything on your screen.
Sarah Michael
18:59
Recommended browser is Chrome.
Africa Hands (she/her)
21:31
Along the lines of Deborah's question above, are there room attendants for the roundtables?
Karen Doster
21:49
What is the conference program’s designated timezone?
Beth Filar Williams (she/they)
22:16
multiple speakers at once ok?
Helen Kula
22:47
How do you suggest we organize the 30-minute social session where you have a theme that will be discussed by all participants?
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
23:38
+1 Helen - and will everyone be able to turn on their cameras and mics during socials?
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
23:48
I believe the participant cap is 25 people
Elizabeth G.
23:50
Same question for roundtables
Sarah Michael
24:43
Multiple presenters can be in the "main audience area" but only one person can be in the top right at one time. 25 is the capacity, confirmed.
Julie Kane
24:52
Are there breakout rooms available here like there are in Zoom?
Paul Fehrmann
25:40
Is ACRL going to be recording our session ….sorry if that was told us…..
Susan Wiegand
25:42
I have to go...thanks for recording!
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
25:51
@sarah so the one person (out of 25) who is talking will appear in the top right?
Sarah Michael
25:56
Our system time zone is EST (server location). However, you can choose your own timezone during onboarding which will translate the agenda to your time.
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
26:02
And the camera will just cycle through whoever is talking?
hmarks
26:14
Same as Karen's question, is it CST?
Sarah Michael
26:26
The speaker will purposefully choose to go in the top right by clicking "Take over as presenter".
Africa Hands (she/her)
26:34
Website says CST time?
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
27:05
@sarah - so in a social, how do we socialize?
Sarah Michael
27:07
Yes, the times listed in the agenda are in CST, but you can choose your own. As seen on Jake's screen now
hmarks
27:36
You can choose your own times instead of one assigned?
Margot Conahan
27:46
The times on the ACRL website are listed in Central time. When you set up your account in the platform, you can select your time zone so the times in the agenda display in your local time zone.
Sarah Michael
27:48
Yes you can see that the agenda is displaying 2 sets of times.
Sarah Michael
28:07
One set of times in CST (default) and then a set for EST (Jake's timezone)
Elizabeth G.
28:33
Can you assign someone as speaker? Otherwise how is a discussion supposed to work
Helen Kula
28:35
So Sarah, what exactly does that mean for the social sessions. If I throw out a question, how should we organize people to speak? I joined late so maybe I missed this but how does this work - presumably they have to be assigned presenter status.
Africa Hands (she/her)
29:00
What's the Notes section of MeetingPlay?
Helen Kula
29:10
+1 for Elizabeth’s question
Meg Wacha
29:33
+1 Elizabeth’s questions
Sarah Michael
29:38
Notes are personal/private to you.
Africa Hands (she/her)
29:45
Thank you!
Sarah Michael
30:42
All attendees who attend this session (in the room) will be on speaker/audio to participate/socialize
Maryellen Nash
31:09
are there breakout rooms?
Helen Kula
31:10
Is they just speak when they want?
Sarah Michael
31:10
Only speakers on this session can "Take over as presenter" (top right) and share their screen.
Erin O'Toole
31:34
Is there any way for participants to raise a hand or react, like in Zoom?
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
31:35
So they’ll be a on a camera grid like in Google meet and zoom?
Heather Owen (she/her)
31:36
I saw "polls" in the admin tools. Are we able to do polls?
Meg Wacha
31:40
Can you speak to functionality for the roundtables?
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
31:42
Can attendees enable a mic like in Zoom, or is "discussion" only available through Q&A or chat?
Africa Hands (she/her)
32:22
+1 Meg.
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
32:36
sorry- missed the question above!
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
34:17
We have student presenters joining our roundtable discussion. They are registered attendees- can we add them as Speakers prior to the session?
Paul Fehrmann
35:47
RE: *roundtable *discussions…do you have recommendations for muting etc…etc..
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
36:04
Thanks Sarah! This was helpful to see
Erin O'Toole
38:36
We're supposed to use Google Slides, right, for purposes of captioning? PDF won't have that feature.
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
38:38
^Will ACRL be introducing the roundtables? Will an ACRL staff person be available in the session to help with Q*A
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
39:10
^ We have student presenters joining our roundtable discussion. They are registered attendees- can we add them as Speakers prior to the session?
Elizabeth G.
39:14
+1 Erin’s q
Benjamin Alexander Shaw
39:16
That’s a great question from Erin. What are the captioning options/functionality?
Deborah Cooper, (she/her)
39:20
Thanks
Julie Kane
39:32
is there anything like breakout rooms?
Elizabeth G.
39:38
Also curious about captioning
Stephanie Jacobs
39:52
Sorry, about the roundtables, did you just say ACRL will introduce them? You said that and then something about kicking off our own sessions.
Emilie Vrbancic (she/her)
39:57
Thank you, Margot. We will do that ASAP.
Africa Hands (she/her)
40:36
We'll make our own introductions in the roundtable sessions.
Kathy (she/her) A Parsons
40:43
roundtables will kick off own sessions.
Helen Kula
40:44
+1 captioning
Stephanie Jacobs
40:46
Thank you
Sarah Michael
40:58
Google slides is fine - anything on your screen will show. But practice to be sure :)
Elizabeth G.
41:20
What about captioning?
Perri Moreno (she/her)
41:21
We ned to share what is essential a video. is that feasable?
Helen Kula
41:27
By captioning, I don’t mean slides - I mean live speaking to text
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
41:54
I thought that ACRL would be providing live captioning when requested?
Elizabeth G.
42:03
Are there acommodations then, for those who can’t hear?
Helen Kula
42:34
Margot, if there is no captioning provided for the live social sessions, will there be accommodation provided by ACRL?
Elizabeth G.
43:01
Thank you Margot
Helen Kula
43:07
Thank you Margot
Brittany Paloma Fiedler
43:17
🙌🏽
Perri Moreno (she/her)
43:50
You mentioned that PDF is the best way to share. We need to esentially share a video. Is that feasable?
Africa Hands (she/her)
44:13
Can we take live questions during our presentations? I can't remember what was said about this.
Sarah Michael
45:19
Sure! Attendees can post questions to Q&A and you can address it verbally. Or, attendees can verbally ask their own questions.
Erin O'Toole
45:31
I'll have a helper to watch the Q&A during the roundtable, but she's not an official speaker. Will she be able to see the Q&A? If not, I can give her speaker status so she can?
Benjamin Alexander Shaw
45:35
Thanks for the presentation, this was helpful!
Africa Hands (she/her)
45:51
Is there a pdf version of the program schedule?
Margot Conahan
46:09
Erin, we'll need to set your colleague up as a speaker. Can you email me their details so I can do that?
Erin O'Toole
46:33
OK, I'll get that to you later this week. Thanks, Margot!
Africa Hands (she/her)
46:39
Okay, thanks.
Kimberly Grotewold
47:05
Thank you.
Africa Hands (she/her)
47:10
Thank you.
Moon Kim
47:18
Thanks!
Angel Diaz (she/hers)
47:21
Thank you!
Kathy (she/her) A Parsons
47:21
thanks
Paul Fehrmann
47:23
Cool.
hmarks
47:24
Thanks!
